What a nice surprise!!

Christy and I arrived at Brooknelle on Friday to find a pluthera of donated items of need! I was in bad shape for paper towels and miraculously a package appeared. Along with the paper towels were those much needed bath towels (which were nicer than some that I use for my own bathing), several bottles of bleach, laundry detergent, household cleaner, dish soap, hand soap and some cool new foaming hand sanitizer!

What a nice surprise. And how awesome to save money and not have to buy that stuff.

I wish the generous soul who donated it would have left a note so that I could thank them.

Alas, I do it here and now.

While I'm being thankful I'll ask for the following! Friskies canned food. Pate' or loaf style (not shredded or filet types). Walmart sells big cans for a good price. If you're at Walmart or you see it on sale somewhere and you're feeling generous, I'll take it! The ferals and any caged cats at Brooknelle get spoiled on soft food daily. It's not a necessity....but I like them to have it! I mean, for God's sake.....they are having their testicles snipped off, the least I can do is provide them some stinky bits!!!

No trapping this Sunday, July 20th

Christy and I are going to Chicago for the weekend (her sister's engagement party). Please don't trap any cats on Sunday, July 20th.

We will resume taking in trapped cats on Monday, July 21st.

Towels needed!!!

Got any crappy towels that you aren't using?

I need any bath or beach sized towels.

Ripped, stained or with holes are fine.

Need them for lining carriers and traps for TNR.

You can drop them at Brooknelle Pet Resort in front of my garage unit.

Windcrest Cats Update

Ok, Finally......I have a moment to fill you all in! Please forgive the lack of blogging lately. I usually get caught up on the weekends, but I've been gone for the past three weekends and just am under a barrage of paperwork and other stuff which clogs up my desk area, makes it look messy and stresses me out.

Early in the month, I got a call from a woman looking for a single barn cat. She got my number from a guy named Ryan. Seems Ryan had an ad in the Advance offering kittens. Ryan's kittens were friendly and he wouldn't allow them to be barn cats so he looked me up on the web and gave my number to Pam and told her that I might be able to give her a barn cat. I don't know who this Ryan is, but I owe him a debt of gratitude. Not only was he NOT willing to offer a friendly kitten as a BARN cat, he was making people give him a refundable deposit upon having the kittens he was offering spayed/neutered. I thought that was a step in the right direction. Good for Ryan! But GREAT FOR ME. Thank you Ryan (who I may never meet but would love to give a big kiss) for turning these people onto my rescue!

Well, Great for the Windcrest Cats! I talked Pam and her husband Rusty into taking all the Windcrest Ferals. At the time, (July 3rd) I had three captured. So Christy and I took the mambo cage with Tippy, Tilty and Brave Fluffy to their beautiful home in Grandville. They wanted the cats to mouse their massive pole barn. These people have three amazing children living with them. Jurnee was in the process of catching and marking turtles (ala DNR) when we arrived. These are ANIMAL PEOPLE!

We set up the cats in the pole barn for proper rehoming. Soon, they will be roaming free on a gorgeous piece of property that has a wooded acre on one side and 6 acres of meadow on the other. Happy are the Windcrest Ferals.

I'm still trying to catch the elusive Scaredy Fluffy. She stopped coming to my porch to eat. I fear that she moved on after not wanting to get into the trap I had set on my porch for two months.
Currently, I have food set out without a trap and no cats have come for over a week. Keep her in your prayers. I so want to reunite her with her brothers and sister.

Missing in action

Hey Feral Friends-

My personal life has been getting the best of me and my blogging has taken a backseat. Along with that, returning of personal phone calls, emailing anyone for reasons not "rescue" related have also been put in the "que" sorta speak.

Life happens and extra curricular stuff just falls aside when it does. But rest assured, I'm doing well and am going to get everything back on track soonly!
